Tesco Price Matches Aldi On Own Brand Products


    Tesco announces that they are price matching Aldi from this week..








    In an effort to try and regain some market share, which is recent years has been shrunk due to increased competition from the discount supermarket retailers, Tesco has announced that it will begin to price match, like for like, Tesco own brand grocery products against comparable products at Aldi.


    Tesco have said It will make sure that “customers are getting competitive prices on these products at Tesco and saving themselves a trip to Aldi”, the supermarket said in a statement, “Prices of the products included will be checked to give customers peace of mind, offering Tesco products at Aldi prices for simple, great value,” Tesco added.

    Items, both online and in-store, will be highlighted with an Aldi Price Match sticker to highlight the fact that the price has been recently checked.


    The stores Tesco check are located in England, Wales and Scotland. Aldi do not have stores in Northern Ireland.


    In the 12 weeks to February, 2020, Aldi was the second-fastest growing supermarket at 5.7%. For Tesco, still the UK’s biggest supermarket, sales fell by 0.8% in the same period, and it's this sales fall that Tesco are looking to turn around with this new price matching initiative.


    The products Tesco match will vary by week and the matched items can be found in selected larger stores but not in Express stores or in NI stores.
