The public are being urged to sign a petition to help the Bite Back 2030 campaign, lobby the government to introduce free school meals to the 800,000 children living in poverty and struggling to afford healthy and nutritious food.
The campaign aims to convince the Prime Minister, and Chancellor, to look into helping all children, not just those children who qualify for free school food due to their age, and who would benefit from a nutritionally balanced lunch every day, at a time when many children parents are unable to afford the healthier food for their child to eat at school, with some children not being given any food at all!
Earlier this year, former PM, Boris Johnson, shelved a plan to supply up to 1 million children with a free school meal, which was universally condemned, and would have resulted in all children, whose family are in receipt of Universal Credit, being offered the free food, and its hoped this campaign will push the issue onto the desk of new PM, Rishi Sunak and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, and help convince them that this is a plan that needs to be quickly implemented, in time for the return of the children to school, after the Christmas break.
