IKEA £1 Breakfast Returns, But Is It Worth It?

IKEA has brought back its £1 breakfast for IKEA Family members, running from 7th March until 28th June, and as always, it’s one of those deals that sounds almost too good to ignore! The offer is available on Saturdays across participating UK stores and on Sundays in Scotland only, between 9:30 am and 11:00 am in the Swedish Restaurant, giving early shoppers a low-cost way to start the day.

A £1 breakfast is great value if you’re nearby, but it only really makes sense if you are already heading to IKEA or live within easy reach of a store.

My nearest IKEA is about a 40-minute drive, and I’m not going to drive that far purely for a cheap breakfast because the fuel and time would wipe out the savings entirely, not to mention the fact I would almost certainly end up spending far more inside the store! If you are going anyway, though, or you happen to live close enough that it’s a short hop rather than a half-day outing, it becomes a genuinely good value breakfast option and one that is hard to beat at that price point.

What’s Included in the £1 Breakfast?

The small cooked breakfast typically includes bacon, sausage, hash brown, omelette, baked beans and tomato

The £1 price applies to the small breakfast options, which are six-piece plates .

The small cooked breakfast typically includes bacon, sausage, hash brown, omelette, baked beans and tomato, while the small vegetarian version usually includes vegetarian sausage, hash brown, omelette, mushrooms, baked beans and tomato.

Considering the standard price for the small breakfast is £2.95, paying £1 represents a significant reduction for IKEA Family members.

Can You Upgrade?

If you want something more filling, the regular breakfast is discounted to £1.50 during the promotional period.

The regular cooked breakfast is a nine-piece plate and generally includes two slices of bacon, two sausages, two hash browns, an omelette, baked beans and tomato. The regular vegetarian version also comes as a nine-piece option with two vegetarian sausages, two hash browns, an omelette, mushrooms, baked beans and two tomatoes.

Even at £1.50, it undercuts most supermarket café breakfasts and many high street chains.

Where Is the Deal Available?

The offer runs at participating stores, including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gateshead, Glasgow, Greenwich, Lakeside, Leeds, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton, Warrington and Wembley.

It does not apply at Brighton, Hammersmith, Oxford Street, Harlow, Norwich, Chester or Aberdeen, and it is not valid at Plan and Order points.

The discount is available only to Ikea Family Members at the Swedish Restaurant and does not apply to the Café, Bistro, Swedish Bite, or Swedish Food Market.

How to Claim the £1 Breakfast

You must be an IKEA Family member to access the discount. Membership is free and can be set up online in minutes. Once you have your digital or physical IKEA Family card, the discount is applied automatically when it is scanned at checkout in the Swedish Restaurant.

You can redeem up to six breakfasts in a single transaction, and the offer cannot be combined with other promotional discounts, business loyalty accounts or co-worker discounts. Tip: If you aren't a member yet, sign up on the IKEA app while you're standing in the queue. It takes 2 minutes and instantly saves you £1.95 per plate.

The Kids Eat for 95p Deal

This kids' pasta and tomato sauce meal includes penne pasta with tomato and basil sauce, a soft drink from the refillable drinks machine and a piece of fruit (in participating stores).

Separate from the £1 breakfast promotion, IKEA also offers a Kids Eat for 95p deal. This kids' pasta and tomato sauce meal includes penne pasta with tomato and basil sauce, a soft drink from the refillable drinks machine and a piece of fruit (in participating stores). The kids meal deal is served from 11 am.

How to Save Even More

The breakfast itself is already discounted, but you can reduce your overall spend if you plan ahead. Gift card cashback services can add another layer of savings, particularly if you know you are going to spend in-store.

For example, JamDoughnut often offers cashback on purchases of £10 or more for IKEA gift cards. If you are heading to IKEA and intend to spend, you could buy a £10 gift card through the cashback app, use it to pay for your breakfast and then use any remaining balance later in-store.

Even if your restaurant bill is under £10, the remaining balance stays on the card and can be applied to furniture or homeware. IKEA restaurants accept IKEA gift cards, so it works smoothly at the till.

The more you spend in-store, the more meaningful those small cashback percentages become! Tip: The "Free Coffee" Hack:  Don’t forget that IKEA Family members get free tea or filter coffee on weekdays. While this £1 breakfast deal is a weekend offer (Saturdays in the UK, Sundays in Scotland), many people forget that if they visit for the standard breakfast on a Monday-Friday, the free hot drink makes the "regular" price much easier to swallow.

What time is IKEA breakfast served?
