The almost secret Amazon site you can use to save up to 50% off normal pricing - Amazon Warehouse
These days, we all do our best to save money on everything we buy, don't we, and literally every penny counts when you're on a strict budget and dealing with a whole host of household price increases. Amazon is likely a retailer you've purchased from in the past; I know I'm a regular customer, to the point that I should probably get our Amazon driver their own dedicated parking space outside our house, as he's delivering here so often, and looking at my orders list on my Amazon account page, I've spent a fair amount of money with them, mainly as its so convenient to buy from, although, admittedly, it may not actually be the cheapest retailer, but it's hard not to just add a product to the cart and buy, as it's so fast!
I'm always looking for an Amazon discount code before I purchase something, and that can sometimes save me some money, but one of the best Amazon savings I've come across is Amazon Warehouse, which I've found can offer me best discounts I'll likely find online, and I do love money-saving deals!
What's Amazon Warehouse?
Amazon Warehouse is a genuine Amazon website that has been set up to sell the products that Amazon has that may not be 100% pristine, in one way or the other. The products on sale may be mildly cosmetically damaged, incomplete, opened boxes or customer returns.
A customer can expect to find:
Customer-returned items - These are products that have been returned by customers but are in good, like-new condition.
Mildly damaged or open-box products - These are items that may have minor cosmetic blemishes, missing minor accessories, or have been opened but are still in good working condition.
A wide variety of product categories - The Amazon Warehouse section covers a broad range of categories, including electronics, home goods, kitchen appliances, tools, and more. Customers can find discounted deals across many different product types.
You know when you go to a shop and they have reduced to clear/clearance sticker products on display, being sold off at a discount; this is basically the Amazon version of a yellow sticker clearance/bargain basement area!
The main benefits of the Amazon Warehouse section are the discounted prices, typically great deals at 20-50% off the original price, as well as the confidence of knowing that these products still come with Amazon's standard fulfilment, customer service, and the standard Amazon returns policy applies, so if you're not happy with your purchase, you can return the goods in the same way you are able to if you had you paid full price, and if not satisfied you are entitled to a full refund, (for example its missing parts that weren't mentioned on the listing), including any delivery costs you may have paid if you're not an Amazon Prime member, but if you do have Amazon Prime, you'll still get free shipping on your purchase.
The products will advertise the quality of each item/condition the products are in via the following different categories:
Used – Good
This is an item that is in very good condition and may have seen limited use and fully functions. The item or packaging may have minor cosmetic imperfections. The product could be missing some non-essential accessories, but most likely, it is a returned product from a customer who bought the wrong thing and sent it back to Amazon for a refund, and for whatever reason, Amazon isn't putting it back into its main stock and is selling off, at a discount, to clear. Having experience working with returned products, this is likely because the customer has used insufficient packaging to return the product, and it has arrived in a non-pristine condition!
Used – Very Good
A 'good' item will show slight signs of use and might have large cosmetic damage or blemishes and/or missing accessories. It may arrive with damaged packaging or be repackaged and could be missing some non-essential accessories
Used – Acceptable
The item may have cosmetic damage or show other signs of previous use such as scratches or dents, and the packaging will likely show wear or major cosmetic damages such as cracks, holes or dents, or it may well have been re-packed in new, generic packaging. The item may also be missing some accessories, components or spare parts, which you may need to buy separately.
The huge range of products available on this clearance site vary from day to day, due to stocks depending on what has been returned to Amazon fulfilment centres. You can only imagine the vast amount of returns that are sent back to Amazon on a daily basis, especially when you take into account that Amazon UK sends out, on average, 2 million parcels every day, and even a modest 1% return rate of orders, it means that Amazon could be receiving some 20,000 returns every single day, which is a lot of return orders to process and a decent number of these returns will need to be sold off at a discount due to them not being pristine, which is good news for savvy shoppers looking for a good deal!
Because I like a bargain and saving money, whenever I need to order a product from Amazon, I'll take a look on the Amazon Warehouse website to see if the item I'm looking for is available for a lower price than that of the main Amazon store.
Recently, I've managed to get a discounted price on a couple of items I needed for my wedding, and it worked out about 35% cheaper on the three items I ordered; two were in such good condition that I wouldn't have known they'd come from the retail giant's warehouse section, as they looked perfect and no different from the brand new products I'd likely buy from the main Amazon page, rather than them being Amazon Warehouse items, and the third had a badly dented box at one end, yet the goods were absolutely pristine inside and cost me far less than the regular purchase price, which made it a fab deal for me, especially all came with the usual free one-day delivery!
As with any purchases you need to make, it's a great idea to check comparison sites to see if an offline retail store or rival online retailers are offering the product you want to buy cheaper than even the Amazon Warehouse deals, as the current price on Amazon may very well not be the cheapest you can get the product for, although its always important to factor in costs such as possible free delivery for Amazon Prime members, but having to pay for delivery elsewhere, or having to pay for parking or fuel to go and collect something.
Check for additional promotional discounts during Amazon sales events like the Spring Deal Days or Prime Day, where Amazon Warehouse products can get an extra 30% off the already discounted prices.
Categories like home and garden, DIY/ tools, and electronics tend to have some of the deepest discounts on the Amazon Warehouse site.
On another Amazon theme, did you know that Amazon Fresh, the food delivery division of Amazon, offers 'yellow sticker' discounted deals on products with a short shelf life, much in the same way that your local supermarket will offer discounts on food products they need to clear asap to reduce the food from going to waste. To find the Amazon Fresh yellow sticker deals, go to the Amazon Fresh page and use the search term 'Reduced Shelf Life" (Or use this link), and this will bring up all the products that have been reduced to clear. Just like your local supermarket, yellow sticker/reduced to clear products change daily, depending on what they need to clear, so it's worth checking every time you want to place an Amazon Fresh order. Remember, of course, that you need to spend £60 or more for free Amazon Fresh delivery, so factor that in if placing an order.
If you don't already have Amazon Prime, you can get a free 30 day trial, which will give you access to free delivery from Amazon Warehouse or Amazon Fresh.
Students aged between 18 and 22, can get a free Amazon Student six-month trial and then a half-price subscription going forward, as well discounts on books, coach tickets, 10% off Amazon Fresh groceries, (very useful for hard-up students!), as well as the usual benefits such as free next day delivery and Amazon Prime movies etc.
