How To Reveal Your World Cup Team And Win Morrisons More Rewards
Morrisons has launched a new World Cup 2026 sweepstake through its More Card app, giving shoppers a free way to join in this year's big football tournament and pick up instant rewards.
The Morrisons Big Match Sweepstake assigns the Morrisons More loyalty app user a World Cup-participating country, and the app then follows that team’s progress during the tournament; the better your team does, the better your chance of receiving extra prizes! If you already shop at Morrisons, this is worth checking because you can win free products, vouchers and a chance to enter a 1 million More Points prize draw without spending anything extra.
The game runs from 8th June until 24th June, and you need the Morrisons More app to take part. Once you open the app and reveal your country, the promotion follows that team through the 2026 World Cup. If your team wins matches and moves through the knockout stages, Morrisons says you can unlock instant rewards along the way. The setup is similar to a traditional sweepstakes, but without having to pay to enter. You're given a country, see how far it goes, and may pick up rewards if things fall your way. That makes it easy to play even if you are not following every match.
This is designed to get shoppers to open the More app more often, but that is not a bad thing!
Supermarkets run loyalty games because they want your attention, your data and your repeat visits. The useful question for shoppers is whether the reward is worth the few seconds it takes to play, and in this case, it probably is if you already use Morrisons.
What Can You Actually Win?
The instant rewards are likely to be the most useful part for everyday shoppers. Morrisons says prizes include free products such as bakery cookies, ice cream and fresh fruit that you can claim in store when you pay at the till.
There are also money-off vouchers available, which may be better than a free product if they apply to something you already need.

I registered to play the Morrisons World Cup 2026 sweepstake myself, and the app allocated me France as my tournament team. I also received an instant prize: a free pack of doughnuts. That makes the promotion worth checking even before you think about the bigger prize draw, because you may get something useful just for entering.
I also know other shoppers who have received different instant prizes, including free drinks, free fruit and veg, free crisps, free cookies and free ice cream lollies.
As with most supermarket app games, what you get will vary. These initial prizes seem to be the kind of items many people would happily pick up during a normal shop, and hopefully the next round of freebies will be similar.
A free product is only useful if you can redeem it before it expires and if you are near a Morrisons store. A money-off voucher is only a saving if it reduces the cost of a shop you were going to make anyway.
If you already shop at Morrisons, though, there is very little downside to opening the app and seeing what you get.
How This Compares To The Recent Morrisons Easter Game
This is not the first time Morrisons has used the More app to give shoppers free prizes. Earlier this year, Morrisons ran an Easter loyalty game where customers could open the app each day and spin a wheel for a chance to win a prize. I covered that promotion at the time in my Morrisons Easter loyalty game post.
That Easter game worked well for me. I won several free products through the app, and I claimed all of them during normal Morrisons shops. That is why I think this new Morrisons World Cup 2026 sweepstake is worth checking, especially if you already use the More app.
The key with these games is not to change your shopping habits for the sake of a freebie. If you were already planning to go to Morrisons, then a free product, voucher or extra points reward is a useful bonus. If you have to make a special trip, spend more than planned or buy things you do not need, the value starts to disappear, and after all thats why Morrisons is running the promo; to get you to go into their store as often as possible, as after all, if you're going in, you're likely buying other things as well, which adds revenue to Morrisons tills, and likley decreases your spending with its competiitors!
How The 1 Million More Points Prize Draw Works
The 1 million More Points prize is a big prize for customers, and Morrisons says customers who hold the winning World Cup country will be entered into a major prize draw. Ten winners will each receive 1 million More Points, which Morrisons says is worth £1,000.
That £1,00o of groceries would make a big difference to my food budget, thats for sure, but it is still a prize draw, and you need to be the winning country first, and then be selected as one of the winners. It is better to treat the £1,000 points prize as a bonus chance rather than the main reason to take part, but you do have to be in it to win it!
The smaller rewards are the ones most people will receive and take advantage of, and a free pack of doughnuts, a drink or a money-off voucher has a clear value if you were heading to Morrisons anyway!
After all, the chances of winning the big prize are very low, but as it looks like everyone gets at least one prize just for signing up to play, it's worth doing, even if just the once!
What About Shoppers Who Do Not Use The App?
The main Big Match Sweepstake runs through the Morrisons More Card app, so you will need the app if you want to reveal a World Cup country. This is because any reward you win is added directly to your loyalty account for you to redeem.
Morrisons says shoppers who do not use the loyalty app will not be completely left out. The supermarket plans to run wider match-day deals for all shoppers, including non-app users, when England and Scotland play.
Those deals could be useful if you shop in store but do not want another app on your phone, but to be honest, these days having the loyalty app on your phone can only be a good thing, so if you can add it to your phone, I'd say youve got nothing to lose and everything to gain for doing so!
How Morrisons More Points Work
Morrisons More Points are part of the supermarket’s loyalty scheme. You collect points through selected purchases, offers and promotions, then convert points into Morrisons Fivers. A Morrisons Fiver is a £5 voucher you can spend on a future shop once you have enough points, either in store or online and can be used in conjunction with other loyalty card coupons or discounts you may have, and can also be used in conjunction with UK cashback apps, such as my favourite, JamDoughnut.
How To Make The Most Of The Morrisons World Cup 2026 Sweepstake
The most important thing is to reveal your team before the 24th June deadline. If you leave it too late, you may miss your chance to take part in the sweepstake. Open the More app, check whether the game is showing, and reveal your country while the promotion is live.
Once your team is revealed, keep an eye on the app during the tournament. If your country wins and unlocks a reward, check how long you have to redeem it. Supermarket app rewards can come with short expiry dates, so leaving them unchecked can mean missing out. I know the Easter prizes only lasted a couple of days before expiring, so check the dates when you do win!
It is also worth checking your usual More app offers at the same time. You may have member prices, personalised vouchers or other product offers sitting in the app.
The Morrisons World Cup 2026 sweepstake is worth playing if you already use the More app or shop at Morrisons regularly. It takes very little effort to reveal your team, and you may get an instant freebie before the tournament has even properly unfolded.
The 1 million More Points prize draw is the big prize, but the everyday value is more likely to come from the smaller rewards. If your allocated team goes far, that is a bonus. If it does not, you may still have picked up something free just for entering.
The sensible approach is to play the game, check what lands in your account, and only redeem rewards that fit your normal shopping. Do not spend more just because a supermarket app has given you a voucher. Used carefully, this is a small but useful Morrisons More perk for shoppers who were already going there anyway.
