Electric vehicle Drivers Can Re-Charge For Free On World EV Day


Drivers will be able to enjoy free EV charging across a variety of Amazing Places on the RAW Charging network, including Alton Towers Resort and a host of National Trust, McArthurGlen and Greene King sites, on Monday (Sept 9) in celebration of World EV Day


Serving as a global initiative to raise awareness about electric vehicles (EVs) and promote the transition to sustainable transportation. The event, which began in 2020, aims to unite companies, policymakers, and individuals in advocating for the benefits of electric mobility and to highlight advancements in EV technology, infrastructure, and environmental impact.


On World EV Day, various activities take place globally, including events, discussions, and promotional campaigns aimed at encouraging the public to consider electric vehicles. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences, knowledge, and enthusiasm for EVs, fostering a community around sustainable transportation


Key Points


In the UK Free charging will begin at 12:01am on Monday 9 September and normal fees will resume at 23:59 on the same day at selected EV charging stations. EV charging company Raw is one of the companies offering free EV charging at selected UK locations.


Free charging will be offered at all of RAW’s destination chargers including:

  • McArthurGlen retail outlets in York, Bridgend, and the East Midlands

  • Over 500 chargers at Greene King pubs

  • National Trust places

  • Merlin Entertainment parks: Alton Towers Resort, Chessington World Of Adventures, Warwick Castle & more.



Charging will be available for all types of EVs. The full list of locations offering the deal can be found on the Raw website.


As one of the largest providers of destination EV charging in the UK, RAW wanted to give back to drivers for the third year running through offering free charging at selected destinations across the UK, to further highlight the growing importance of reliable destination charging.
