School Uniform Deals 2025: Where to Buy and How to Save

School uniform shopping doesn't need to be expensive, especially now that supermarkets are offering their best back-to-school prices.

From £5 bundles to 25% loyalty discounts, there’s real money to be saved — if you know where to look. But each shop does things differently. Some have better sizing. Some push loyalty apps. And some start promoting uniforms before the summer holidays have even begun!

Here’s what I’ve found, having done the digging myself, and how to save even more on top.

How Prices Compare

Let’s say you’re buying a basic set: 2 polos, 2 trousers, 1 sweatshirt.

If you want to spend the least, Aldi or Lidl win, but Morrisons’ one-price-fits-all is great for older kids. Tesco and Asda sit comfortably in the middle in terms of quality and flexibility.

Save Even More on School Uniforms

Here’s where the real savings add up:

  • Use cashback sites: Shop online via TopCashback or Quidco, or for the main supermarkets, other than Lidl or Aldi, use a gift card cashback service, such as JamDoughnut, to earn cashback on your purchase.

  • Check if your child’s school holds second-hand sales: These often occur just before the end of the school term. Great for branded sweatshirts and branded PE kits.

  • Look on Vinted or eBay: Parents start clearing out old school uniforms as schools break up. You can often find bargains in your child's size. It’s perfect for spares, extras, or backup sets.

  • Watch out for ‘Back to School’ sales: These start just as schools break up, sometimes earlier. Last year, I saw signs in shops before my son had even begun his summer holiday. Sales that ended in June often return, and sometimes with even lower prices.

  • Grab loyalty savings: Use loyalty apps such as:

    • Tesco Clubcard

    • Lidl Plus

    • Sainsbury’s Nectar

    • Morrisons More Many of these apps give personalised vouchers or app-only pricing.

  • Check for council support: Some councils offer uniform grants or hardship funds. Just Google “school uniform grant” and your council name.

  • Don’t wait until August: Popular sizes (especially 9–13 years) sell out fast. Prices won’t get cheaper, but the best stock might disappear.

Which Supermarket Wins?

That depends on your priorities.

  • Tightest budget: Aldi or Lidl

  • Same price no matter the size: Morrisons

  • Mix of value and quality: Tesco or Asda

  • Best for buying extras or branded bits: Check second-hand and school sales

It’s not about finding the “best” store. It’s about using the deals when they come up and knowing how best to maximise them!
