Tesco is preparing to launch its groceries through Uber Eats and Deliveroo, giving shoppers another way to order food, household products and everyday essentials for rapid delivery.

Clubcard members will be able to access hundreds of Clubcard Prices and collect points through both platforms, which is a notable change from many existing supermarket listings on delivery apps. The convenience sounds useful, but the total cost will depend on product prices, delivery charges, service fees and whether your basket qualifies for any membership savings.

I already use Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats for food delivery, so being able to order from Tesco through apps already on my phone is something I’d consider. I haven’t used Tesco Whoosh yet, although I’ve received vouchers encouraging me to try it, including £10 off a £25 order.

My concern has been that Whoosh products can cost more, meaning a large voucher may sometimes bring the basket back towards normal store prices rather than producing the full saving suggested by the advertised discount.

When will Tesco launch on Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

As checked on the 2nd of August 2026, Tesco had announced the partnerships but hadn’t confirmed the exact rollout schedule for individual towns and stores.

The new partnerships will sit alongside Tesco’s existing Whoosh rapid-delivery service. Tesco says Whoosh is available through around 1,800 stores, reaches more than 70% of the UK population and is used by about 1.5 million customers. Sales through Whoosh increased by 51% during the previous year, which helps explain why Tesco wants to reach more people through apps they may already use.

Will Clubcard Prices work through Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

Tesco says customers will be able to access hundreds of Clubcard Prices and collect Clubcard points when ordering through Uber Eats and Deliveroo. This is important because supermarket orders placed through third-party apps don’t always include the same loyalty prices and promotions available in-store. Tesco hasn’t yet explained exactly how shoppers will connect their Clubcard accounts, so the registration process should become clearer when each service launches.

There are still several unanswered questions. Tesco hasn’t said whether customers will collect the normal number of Clubcard points, whether personalised Clubcard offers will appear, or whether Clubcard vouchers and eCoupons can be used at checkout. Those benefits already work through Whoosh, where a Clubcard is applied automatically, and eligible Clubcard Prices are included, but that doesn’t confirm that the third-party apps will follow exactly the same process.

How will Tesco on the delivery apps compare with Whoosh?

Whoosh is Tesco’s own rapid-delivery service, with orders arriving from as little as 20 minutes in selected areas. It currently charges a £2.99 delivery fee, while baskets below £15 face an extra £2.50 minimum-basket charge.

Tesco also states that Whoosh has its own pricing, so products can differ in price from those found in stores or through its standard grocery-delivery service.

Tesco has expanded Whoosh beyond small emergency orders, allowing some customers to choose same-day windows and place larger shops through more than 250 larger stores. Its standard home-delivery service remains better suited to a planned weekly shop, reaching more than 99% of the population and requiring a minimum £50 grocery order.

The new Uber Eats and Deliveroo arrangements appear designed to fill the space between a quick forgotten-item order and Tesco’s usual scheduled delivery service.

I’ve been sent a £10 off £25 Whoosh voucher, which sounds like a decent discount and is likely to persuade me to try it. My expectation is that the higher rapid-delivery prices may absorb part of that saving, meaning I could end up paying close to ordinary Tesco prices or perhaps slightly less.

Will Tesco be more expensive through Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

Rapid-delivery prices are often higher because the service has to cover picking, packing and fast delivery from a local shop. A Which? snapshot of rapid grocery services found that products bought through delivery apps cost at least 20% more on average than buying directly from the supermarket. In its Tesco comparison, a tested Whoosh basket cost Clubcard users around 25% more than shopping directly with Tesco, partly because some promotional prices weren’t available through Whoosh at that point.

The arrival of hundreds of Clubcard Prices on Uber Eats and Deliveroo may improve the position, but the only reliable test will be comparing identical baskets after the services launch.

What fees could Uber Eats add to a Tesco order?

Uber Eats currently charges several possible fees on grocery, retail and convenience orders. Its published structure includes a service fee of 10% of the subtotal, with a minimum of 99p and a maximum of £2.99, plus a £3 small-order fee when the basket is below £15.

A delivery charge also applies and can currently range from 29p to £14.99, although the amount depends on factors including distance, the retailer and driver availability.

Those figures describe Uber Eats’ general fee structure and don’t confirm the final cost of a Tesco order, as there could be launch promotions, reduced delivery charges or different terms for eligible Uber One members. The important figure will be the final amount shown before payment, rather than the saving displayed next to one or two Clubcard products.

Will Deliveroo Plus make Tesco delivery cheaper?

Deliveroo Plus may remove the delivery charge from eligible Tesco orders, but it won’t necessarily remove every charge. Deliveroo says customers may face a delivery fee, extended-delivery fee, service fee and small-order fee, all of which should be shown before checkout. Plus members can receive free delivery when they meet the relevant minimum spend, while service fees and other applicable charges can still remain.

I don’t pay separately for Deliveroo Plus because I currently receive Deliveroo Plus Silver through my Amazon Prime membership. That version gives free delivery on qualifying grocery and retail orders worth at least £25, although the Tesco listing will need to be eligible and the service fee will still apply.

Amazon Prime members can currently claim a year of Deliveroo Plus Silver at no added cost, which is worth checking before paying for delivery through the app.

Can you earn cashback on Tesco orders through Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

Uber Eats and Deliveroo may offer another route through gift card cashback. Services such as JamDoughnut give cashback when you buy eligible retailer gift cards, so when Uber Eats or Deliveroo is available in the app, you may be able to buy a gift card first and use it to pay for the Tesco order. The cashback rate and availability can change, and you should check that the gift card can be used with any promotion you plan to claim before buying it.

There may also be opportunities to combine cashback with the regular grocery deals offered by the delivery apps. I’ve seen Uber Eats offer 50% off selected fruit and vegetables, while Deliveroo currently advertises 50% off selected fresh groceries every Monday through its Fridge Filler Mondays promotion.

It remains to be seen whether Tesco will be included in those offers after launch, but if it is, a Monday promotion combined with Clubcard Prices, Clubcard points and gift card cashback could make some orders much better value.

The Uber Eats and Deliveroo details remain subject to the final launch terms. Tesco has confirmed the Clubcard benefits and broad product range, but not every fee, location or account-linking step. Check the app at the point of ordering because costs can vary by address and basket.

How can you avoid paying more than necessary?

Build the complete basket before deciding whether a promotion represents a genuine saving. Compare the final app total with Tesco’s normal website, paying attention to product prices, Clubcard reductions, delivery fees and the service charge. A £5 or £10 voucher can still be useful, but its real value is reduced when the products or fees cost more than they would through another ordering method.

Membership benefits are also worth checking before payment. Amazon Prime customers may already qualify for Deliveroo Plus Silver, while regular Uber Eats customers may have Uber One or an app promotion available. Free delivery doesn’t always mean a fee-free order, so continue to the final checkout screen and review every charge before confirming.

It’s also worth considering whether rapid delivery is solving a genuine problem. Paying a little more may be reasonable when you need an ingredient urgently, can’t leave the house or would otherwise order an expensive takeaway. It’s less convincing for a routine weekly shop that could be planned through Tesco’s normal delivery service or collected from the store.

Until the service launches, the new partnerships look useful for convenience but can’t yet be judged properly on value. Clubcard Prices and points are welcome additions, although they need to outweigh any higher product prices and platform charges.

When the services go live, compare the complete bill rather than assuming the presence of a Clubcard logo means you’re paying the same as you would in a Tesco store.
