The Morrisons 'Ask For Henry' Free Jacket Potato & Beans Meal Is Back

The Morrisons & Heinz 'Ask For Henry' is back in Morrisons cafes this July

Morrisons is to relaunch the Ask for Henry initiative. From Monday, July 1st, anyone who “Asks for Henry" will get a free jacket potato topped with Heinz Cheesy Beanz —no questions asked.

The free jacket potato meal offer is available in all Morrisons cafés until July 14th* and aims to provide some financial relief to customers - many of whom will be preparing for a stretch of time without the support of school meal programmes as the school summer holidays are coming soon, and so a free hot meal now, means a saving that might be able to be used during the summer break.

You can claim the offer once per day during the promotion, but you can use it every day if you want to, which is good news for people really struggling in times of need and a hearty jacket potato; Potatoes are a decent source of fibre, which can help you feel full longer. The Heinz Cathedral City Cheesy Baked Beanz are a source of protein and are high in fibre, so combined with the potato, this is a positive meal choice.

This 2024 Ask for Henry initiative follows campaigns that began in 2022 and for a second time in 2023, which saw Morrisons and Heinz feed tens of thousands of customers for free. Morrisons also teamed up with Warburtons to offer 'Ask For Ellen' free crumpets earlier in the year.

Customers can request the free meal at any time throughout the two-week period. Morrisons Café staff have been trained on the code word 'Henry’ and will understand phrases like “Is Henry here?” “Henry,” “Can I have a Henry?” been trained on the code word ‘ “Can I ask for Henry?” or similar expressions to help make it a more discreet free lunch or dinner.

Ask For Henry is back for 2024 at Morrisons cafes

Why use the name Henry? This name relates to Heinz founder Henry Heinz, so the 'Ask for Henry' scheme is named in his honour. He is said to have had a kind spirit and been one of the great benefactors of his time!

The offer is available to anyone, not just children. Morrisons actively encourages anyone who could use a free hot meal to take advantage of the offer and not be worried that they may be turned away; it's open to everyone! Morrisons will also continue to offer its **Kids Eat Free initiative in addition to the ‘Ask for Henry’ activity. This means families can access a free kids' meal when purchasing any adult main meal costing over £5. The offer is available every day, seven days a week, for any child aged under 16 in Morrisons Cafés nationwide.

It's a great scheme that ensures that children and adults get the opportunity for a free meal during the financial pressures of the cost-of-living crisis, which stretches the household budgets of families who may struggle. Parents struggling with food poverty or under real financial pressure can contact local food banks or community larders for help and advice or find information online via the Trussell Trust website.
