There is an Equiwatt National Grid DFS event tonight, (13th Feb 2023), (DFS= (Demand Flexibility Service), between 17:30 and 18:30, which will help reduce energy consumption PLUS earn you points which you can use to grab free gift cards.
You may well have seen in the news that energy companies are giving some of their customers a financial incentive to manually turn off appliances around their homes in an effort to conserve power.
The (DFS), scheme entitles households with up-to-date smart meters, who are signed up to the scheme via their supplier, to discounts if they cut their use of electricity by turning off energy-intensive appliances during energy-saving events.
Unfortunately, not all energy suppliers offer this option, as they haven't all signed up for the scheme; however, Equiwatt, an energy-saving app, runs its own scheme, and its users can earn points by turning off their appliances and limiting energy use, during these National Grid DFS Equivalent events.
Anyone with a smart meter can take part in these energy-saving events, so long as they have a smart meter. It's quick to sign up; you can be up and running in minutes!
So how does it work?
The app will notify you in advance of an upcoming National Grid DFS Equivent.
You then accept the invitation to participate via the app .
Once the event begins, which is for 1 hour, check your forecast, (Your forecast is the amount of electricity you are likely to use at the time of an equivent. It is calculated by taking your average electricity usage during a similar period of time in the previous days from your smart meter data ), and make sure you consume less than your forecast by turning off appliances, and the lower you go below your forecast, the more points you earn, and the more points you earn, the quicker you can cash out a gift card!
Gift cards are redeemable from 1500 points, which equates to £15.
If you want to take part in these events, save energy and earn free gift cards, then use the link below to sign up and get earning and saving at the same time! I've earned well over 3100 so far using the Equiwatt app and schemes!
