Amazon Prime Day officially starts today, Tuesday, 11 October and runs until midnight on Wednesday, 12 October.
With Christmas bearing down on us, Prime Day deals are very popular with shoppers looking to save a few quid on pressies, but it's easy to get caught up in a buying frenzy, so the chart in the image might help you with buying decisions.
Remember, a saving is only a saving if you actually need the item to start with. Otherwise, it's a non-budgeted for expense!
If you need to buy, check that the item isn't cheaper elsewhere; use Google shopping to check the prices from Amazon competitors.
If it's a similar price elsewhere, could you get cashback from the other retailer (Amazon cashback is rare), using TopCashback, Karma Cashback or Quidco?
If not cheaper elsewhere, look at buying a gift card from the cashback site Karma Cashback, which will give you 2.1% on your Amazon purchases. I couldn't find anyone else offering Amazon gift card cashback!
This year, retailers are expected to slash prices due to the cost of living crisis, and retailers will be discounting to ensure that the widely anticipated downturn in Christmas buying doesn't leave them leftover stock, so it might be worth holding back and seeing if you can grab what you need cheaper, closer to Christmas...
The moral of this post is, if you need it, do your best to save extra money by shopping savvy, and if you don't need it but do want it, hold on for lower prices, or ask for it as a gift for Christmas, save up for it, or don't buy it all, after all, you have gotten this far in life without it, so maybe save your pennies for something you really do need!
