Aldi on Deliveroo: Is Grocery Delivery Worth the Extra Cost?

Aldi Deliveroo grocery delivery is available from eight trial stores, with fees shown at checkout.

Running out of milk or discovering you’re missing something for dinner can mean another supermarket trip when you’ve already got plenty to do. Aldi’s new Deliveroo service gives shoppers near eight trial stores another option, with groceries picked up and brought to the door.

The service launched on the 6th of October 2026, although whether it’s worth using depends on your address, the basket price and the fees added at checkout.

Around 2,000 products are available through the trial, including fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, bread, household essentials and selected Specialbuys. A Deliveroo rider does the shopping in store, then brings it to you, rather than Aldi staff preparing a conventional supermarket van delivery. It could be useful for a top-up shop or a day when getting out is difficult, but convenience still needs to fit your budget.

Which Aldi stores are on Deliveroo?

The eight trial stores are listed below, with four in Kent and the others in Norwich, Ipswich, Letchworth Garden City and Tamworth. Living in the same town doesn’t guarantee your address is covered, as the delivery area matters too. Enter your address on the Deliveroo website or app and look for Aldi before planning an order.

How does Aldi Shop & Deliver work?

Choose Aldi in Deliveroo, add the available products to your basket and check the complete price before confirming. Under Shop & Deliver, a participating rider finds and scans the items in store, pays using the rider system and delivers them. Aldi’s announcement includes both on-demand orders and the option to choose a delivery window, so use the choices available for your address.

The rider is shopping from the store’s shelves, which means an item could be unavailable by the time they reach it. Check the substitution and refund choices shown during ordering, particularly if you need a specific ingredient or product. Don’t assume the app gives you access to every item in the branch, or that a limited-stock Specialbuy is reserved simply because you’ve seen it listed.

How much does Aldi delivery cost?

There isn’t one fixed delivery charge that applies to every Aldi order. Deliveroo’s fee information covers delivery, extended-delivery, service and small-order fees, with the relevant charges shown before you pay. Your address and basket can affect the total, so delivery charges may apply even when the groceries themselves look inexpensive.

It helps to look at the cost as one complete shop rather than treating each fee as a small extra. For example, a £20 basket with £4 in fees would cost £24, making the fees equivalent to another 20% of the item subtotal. Those are illustrative figures, not a quoted Aldi delivery charge, but they show why a small top-up order deserves a quick check before paying.

A small-order fee can create a temptation to add another product just to remove it. Compare the extra spending with the fee you’d avoid, and only add something you’ll use. Spending £5 on something you don’t need to remove a £2 fee leaves you £3 worse off.

Will Deliveroo Plus or Amazon Prime make it cheaper?

Deliveroo Plus Gold currently costs £4.99 a month or £49.90 a year, with free delivery fees on eligible grocery and retail orders over £15, excluding fees. Plus Silver, available through partnerships including Amazon Prime, uses a higher grocery and retail threshold of over £25.

These benefits apply to qualifying orders and don’t remove every other charge, so check the benefit shown against your Aldi basket.

If you already have Prime, our guide to the Deliveroo Plus benefit for Amazon users explains how to claim the current offer. Activating a benefit you already qualify for may be more useful than starting a paid Gold subscription for one order. Compare the saving with any new subscription cost and remember that changing from Gold to Silver changes the minimum order thresholds.

Is Aldi on Deliveroo the same price as in store?

There isn’t a verified promise that every Aldi item on Deliveroo will match its in-store price. Aldi’s launch announcement makes a different claim: that its products on the app will be priced below those of other supermarkets offering rapid delivery. That’s Aldi’s comparison with rival delivery services, rather than evidence that ordering is as cheap as visiting Aldi yourself.

Check the exact products and pack sizes, then add all the fees before comparing with an in-store shop. Deliveroo’s customer terms explain that item prices and charges can change, so the checkout is the place to confirm what your particular order costs. For a larger basket, even small differences across several products can add up before delivery is included.

There are times when paying extra to avoid a trip may still make sense, particularly if getting to the shop would involve a taxi or a difficult journey. That’s a personal decision about the total cost and convenience, rather than a guarantee that delivery saves money. If an in-store trip is easy for you, use that as the price comparison and decide what avoiding it is worth.

Can you order Aldi Specialbuys?

Selected Specialbuys are included in the trial’s range, alongside groceries and household products. That doesn’t mean every middle-aisle item will appear in the app, or that the same selection will be available in every trial branch. Check the actual listing and stock for your address if there’s something specific you want.

With Aldi’s wooden-toy event approaching, it would be easy to assume delivery offers a way to avoid the queues. There isn’t confirmation that the full toy range will be available through the trial. Our UK toy-sales guide covers the confirmed in-store launch and prices, so don’t rely on an unlisted delivery option for a particular present.

Before paying, you can also check JamDoughnut for a suitable Deliveroo gift card, or TopCashback and Quidco for a qualifying offer. Check availability and the current terms before buying or following a link, as no particular cashback route is guaranteed for this trial. An Aldi gift card shouldn't be assumed to work at Deliveroo’s checkout, and a small cashback reward won't make up for a larger difference in the total bill.

How does it compare with Tesco on Deliveroo?

Tesco and other supermarkets also offer rapid delivery, giving shoppers a choice where their delivery areas overlap. Our Tesco Uber Eats and Deliveroo guide explains that service and the costs to compare. Put the same items, sizes and quantities into each available basket, then compare the totals after fees and any eligible discounts.

Aldi’s rider-picking model changes how the shopping is done, but it doesn’t remove the need for that price check. One shop may have a lower item price while another has a better offer for your account. The useful answer is which costs less for the order you need today, rather than which supermarket is usually thought of as cheaper.

When will Aldi Deliveroo reach more stores?

A wider national launch is planned for early 2027, following the eight-store trial. That’s a plan rather than a confirmed date for every branch, and there isn’t a complete store-by-store timetable yet. For now, check your address in Deliveroo rather than assuming all Aldi stores are participating.

If Aldi appears for you, try building the basket you actually need and look at the final total before deciding. Compare that with the cost of visiting the shop or using another delivery service you already have. The service is useful when it solves a problem at a price you’re comfortable paying, without turning a small top-up into a much larger bill.
